belt driven rattle
My 4.0 rattles at idle, and I thought it was the timing chain making noise. I took the serpentine belt off, started the engine, and the rattle was gone. put the belt back on, and it returned.
The belt tensioner and the idler pulley both spin pretty freely when I spin them with my hand, which makes me think its one of them rattling. Should they be offering more resistance, or is this normal?
If it is the way they should be, what else could be making the noise?
