It is most likely the lower intake manifold bolts are loose

If it is the intake bolts In my experience, tightening bolts that have once been torqued usually does more damage to gaskets. Has snugging up these bolts, if they are actually the culprit, been successful? Thanks for input by the way.

These bolts have been known to back off some and lose their torque. I had the same lean codes on my 99 and I replaced the upper plenum gaskets and retorqued the lower bolts and it solved my lean codes.

Fixed it. Because of the under hood mods, engine cage, shock towers, etc the charcoal canister was relocated and put on its side with inlet and outlet pipes on the bottom. Little bits of charcoal were sucked into the solenoid and kept it stuck partiality open. Fixed the canister, cleaned the solenoid, and took it for a long drive up the canyon and no cel.

The p0171 and p0174 could possibly be corrected by replacing the oil filler tube if the misfire is taking place on bank 1. I'm going to try it and see if it clears the check engine light.

My lean codes, were caused by a weak fuel pump. There's a link somewhere around here, that leads to a do it yourself website, that walks you through the process of elimination. Mine was the last step in the process. It was pretty easy, and straightforward. I did have to buy a live data scanner though.

So mine is fixed finally. I thought I had it fixed when I addressed my previously mentioned evap issues but i was still getting lean codes. New MAF, fuel pump and filter, iac, egr, etc trying to avoid the inevitable gasket change. But finally tore into the job yesterday. I was very worried when I got down to the fuel rail and saw that new gaskets had already been put in this truck. Great now what. One thing I noticed though before I even started this job was is when I blew on the vent hose that comes from the oil fill tube I could hear air escaping below the lower intake manifold right by the thermostat housing, so obviously unmetered air was getting into the system and closing this part off meant it was drawing the air in from the pcv side. So I had to go deeper and pull the lower manifold also. The gasket set that was installed, and the new set I bought has two separate lower intake gaskets instead of one large gasket so a sealant has to be used to seal the front and rear valley areas. The previous sealant must have been improperly applied and allowed outside air into the system. So with new gaskets and properly applied rtv I now have a leakproof lower intake manifold and hopefully no more lean codes.
