Default OHV Oil Pan Gasket Install Questions

Instead of rebuilding my motor for the B4000 I got a good deal on a complete low mileage motor. It had a couple minor leaks so I wanted to just replace the various cover gaskets and slap it in leak free.

When I was dry fitting the oil pan gasket onto the engine last night I noticed these 2 tabs that are on either side of the rear half moon section. I see where they are supposed to go into the block on either side of the rear main piece but not sure what I need to do to get them in.

The tabs from the old one snapped off in there and I can probably scrape them out without problems. Question is do I need to pull/loosen the rear main cap to tuck these tabs into the block or can I just slip them in with some lubrication?

Hoping I don't need to remove the cap if possible. Waiting patiently for my new to me factory manual to arrived.

Nope meant OHV, trying to differentiate between the 4.0L OHV pushrod 4.0L V6 and the 4.0 SOHC V6 since they are different engines but are both discussed in this section.
