Default lock up solenoid???

my 2002 ranger automatic 4x4 is tweaking out. when i get over 40 mph and then have to stop it shudders hard and then dies. was told it was the torque converter by a couple tranny shops so i replaced it but the problem still exsists. so now i was told it could be the lock up solenoid but i cant find anywhere in my haynes manual where the solenoid is located. any help?

different solenoid, its in the tranny, most trannies if you drop the pan you will see some little solenoids sitting there. not too hard to change usually, once you get into the tranny pan, pull the retaining bolt and the 2-3 wires and put a new one on, and replace the tranny filter while your at it.

btw i have never done this on a ranger, but i have on a few toyotas and a honda and an older c-6
