Default Throttle Position Sensor questions

I have an 2004 with a 4.0. Has anyone installed a TPS in this motor? My questions are: Is there only one way to install this or is there something I have to align other than the bolt holes? Does anyone know what size the mounting screws are? They were a pain to get out and I would like to replace them with a hex head screw.

Thanx!!!!!

I did mine on my 01 4.0L. I dont know how similar they are, but i believe they only fit one way. (Mine had the connector on the side closest to the grill.) You do however need to make sure the input is engaging the butterfly valve correctly.

I did on my 06 4.0. same motor. Its small star screws that I stripped out lol. I just ended up taking vise grips to them and taking them out. I replaced them with #10 Phillips head screws. They dont actually screw into the Sensor. They pass through metal sleeves in the sensor and just screw into plastic. The factory screws have cutter threads on them so they can screw into the plastic. So take them out and replace them with anything really as long as it is near the same size. They just need to fit though sensor holes.

The sensor has to go on a certain way. when you go to put it on hold the sensor in position, just push the throttle down a little bit until the paddle on the throttle lines up with the slot on the sensor. slide it on and screw her down and clip the connector back on
