Is there a reason to stay away from performance chips? my mom has the tuner for her 2001 5.2 Ram 1500 and it works well. Just wanted to know how the tuner would work for my ranger and the approx costs as well as the pros and cons against the tuner and the chip?

I have heard bad things with the chips. They can cause all kinds of problems.
If anything goes wrong with a tuner you can reset it. The chip is always there till u remove it. With my tuner I have stock performance and towing. So I can select at any given time what I want
There are really good tuners out there. Like diablo and SCT


You should also consider underdrive pullies

Thanks dude, any idea how much those tuners are running for these days? even an estimation would be helpful?

U can get a tuner for 300 sct live wire like I got is 599

wow that's reasonable I might look into that an perhaps a functional 3" dual exhaust in due time. I can't really do it now since i have the truck payments for the next 5 years lol
