Default How did this happen?

Does anyone know what might have caused this to happen to one of my spark plugs? It is a Bosch Platinum.

That's what they do when you put them in Ford trucks. They fail. Don't ask why. They fail. Autolite or Motorcraft only my friend. They'll last 100,000 miles. Bosch and other brands fail within a few thousand if they even get that far. Hopefully the entire center piece falling out of it didn't damaged anything in the cylinder.

How did you know about the plug? Did a CEL tell you or just general maintence?

Like stated before, autolite or Motorcraft, I actually have E3's in my pig right now, they are ok, I'll have to put a pic up when I change them out here soon. They've been in the truck probably 20k now, I bought autolites to replace them with.

On a side not about the platinums, if you don't have a higher compression engine, or something like say a tuned up small block, they really aren't going to do you any good. They aren't made for trucks like ours really, they tout them as being king shiznit, but I haven't seen one test period proving they are any better on a normal engine.

As for Bosch, generally they make great stuff, but they work better in the imports, and German stuff. I took some out of a BMW with easy 100k on them, they looked like hell, but with 100k of spark I wasn't suprised, they ran great though.

It started running really rough at idle and felt like it was chugging along at 55.

I literally had a Bosch Platinum blow out of my block leaving only the metal threaded part. Sounded like a shotgun going off. Piece of shit plugs
