Default 2001 xlt ranger will not start

The ranger chugged then died on the highway, we had it towed home and put a can of Heet in. It started but the next day it would not start again.
We changed out the fuel filter, still not starting. It turns over, but seems like it is not getting any fuel. It has an after market sabre security system that should not allow it to turn over if the button is not depressed, but it did. I am thinking it is either a bad security system that may be keeping the fuel pump from pumping the fuel or it could be the fuel pump. we took off the fuel line and turned the engine over. No gas pumped out of the line, so I am leaning towards the fuel pump, but it could be a faulty security system. Does anyone know how to test for this?
Thank you
Christine

check the fuel pump reset switch. its a little black and red button that should be pushed down i believe. if its not then push it down and try to start your truck again

Try researching the security system and see what you need to do to disconnect it then try it out. Also like the other guy said fuel reset which I believe on your truck is on the passenger side floor behind the kick plate

I checked the reset switch, that did not do it. Trying to talk to ford now to trouble shoot the security system. I would hate to change out the pump if that is not the problem. But it could be as it does have some miles on it.
thank you so much for your input)
I am new to this forum and I think it is fantastic.
