Default Post K&N FIPK installation question

Installed K&N FIPK 57-2529-1 this past weekend and have a question.

What would it hurt if I replaced the stock crankcase vent rubber elbow and black plastic tube, and the piece of rubber hose that came with the kit connecting the black plastic tube to the air intake tube, with a single 5/8" inside diameter rubber vent hose? Figured replacing three parts with one would reduce any air leaks and make for a better vent hose connection. Guess the only issue may be a kink in the hose where it would connect to the crankcase cover. Thoughts?

Also, a few notes on installing. I had a very hard time getting the air cleaner box out. There are four grommets and the small intake tube to deal with, I ended up busting off the two grommets that went into the side wall to get this thing out. Put the hose clamps on the hose ends first, makes it easier to mount to throttle body and air flow sensor. I found the under the hood insulation blanket rubs on top of the air filter and wore through the air filter mesh in a small area, the hood closes fine, so adjust accordingly.
