Re: terrible gas mileage need help!!!!
[QUOTE=95ranger40;285638]I checked the muffler system and everything is good on that.... Checked the maf.. its a little dirty but nothing major.. the fuel filter is rotted to a t* and dripping..Its original lol. but they replaced the rubber tubes? who does that..anyway I bought a new one and im going to put it on tomorrow... found a serious problem while I was under there tho.. aparently they patched my block and the patch decided to fall out today and empty my coolant all over the place..and all over me.. I put some preston anti-leak in it.. its a small hole (about the size of a needle hole)in the front of the block but when its cooling down it poors out.. I dont have the money for a new engine so it looks like Im going to have to figure out a better way to patch it.
I know j/b weld does NOT work on blocks.. atleast it hasnt for me. (unless maybe they are brand new and spotless) I might just have to use some sort of liquid steal and see what happens.
I was going to suggest a leak...looks like you found that (fuel filter and lines) plus one maybe worse..the block!!! If the hole really is that small (maybe your wrong about that..maybe below the surface there are cracks) perhaps a local machine shop, welder or mechanic can think of a fix. Being fuel injected even when off (the motor) pressure would be kept in the lines..continual leaking. Get that fixed and it may solve drive-ability issues. But the block leaking....while you can't afford it now...is the truck in good enough shape for you to put a re-manufactured motor in eventually? If not you may not want to spend much on it or keep it long.
