Rough gear selection *Help me!

When I try to change to drive or reverse my truck lunges. How do I fix/prevent this from happening? And how expensive is the fix?

What is your idle set at?

It sits just under 1k rpm. I think maybe like 850... idk for sure.

Mine does that, it's not a huge lunge but you can feel it. I always thought it was just the truck doing it's thing. My buddies Chev has a shift kit in it and it does the same but a lot harder then mine. Check the fluid level in the tranny and see what it is at.

mine does that as well, new fluid and filter helps
