Default oil dipstick reading

My oil dipstick is giving a weird reading, it goes really far up on one side, but the other side stops in the cross hatch area.. I'm not sure if I screwed up and somehow put way too much in it at the last oil change, or what.

yeah make sure your truck is level and you might have to do it acouple times. I know a view times mine will do that to and honestly I have a really harrd time getting a good read off of our dipstick. Ive never had any problems before but some reason with the ranger it can just be a pain sometimes. But id say thats normal, just to try acouple times til you get a good consistant reading.

yup, it was parked level overnight.
and yeah, I think I will get rid of the picture haha, I went out to check again, and it doesn't look nearly as bad as the pic shows it to be.
It does though, level off just under the top of the crosshatched part, as it should, but half of the stick has oil going another inch or so past it- after I cleaned it and put it back in multiple times. I'll keep an eye on it, thanks guys.

Ignore the stuff up the sides. Thats just residue from the tube. As long as the entire cross hatch area is full, you're fine.
