Default IAC valve change out

Is there anything I need to disconnect besides the connector on the IAC valve itself? Reason I am asking bought new valve and installed and the engine revs up to 3000 rpm and won't settle down. Unplugged the connector on the new valve and it stays at 3000 rpm, it is as if the valve is bad, signal not getting to valve. Replace with the old valve and it idles correctly.

Solved my problem, bought IAC from AZ, the first one was made a little different, on inside there was a spring on the internal shaft, where as the original did not have this spring and the side vent tube was angled. Returned it to AZ and got a swap out and the new one is identical to the original. Installed and works like a champ This is not the first time I have purchased parts from AZ and they are not the exact replacement, part number is listed correctly but parts a little different. Next time I will try some other place.

I was gonna suggest it was wrong one or not sealing.
If possible I always try to take the part in with me.

Agreed. For what it's worth, the computer does have to relearn it's idle strategy any time the IAC is replaced. So the results won't be immediate until you drive around a bit.

Glad you got it figured out. In my opinion, the IAC is one of the easiest things to replace on these trucks.

I had the same issue and never got mine to work right. I ordered one from rock auto and autozone and both did that. I even went through the idle relearn setup and everything and stll couldnt get it to work out right. Put the stock one back on n working fine but never did get it to work the way I wanted to with a new one.
