Default 98 4.0l xlt, oil leak but from where????

A couple weeks ago I went to the ford dealer to get the truck checked over before the winter and get an oil change.. Now, I have an oil leak.... I know they use a synthetic blend, but not sure if that's what caused the leak or not..

I went under it this weekend to see where it may be leaking from, it doesn't look like the rear main seal, it looks more like it's coming from the oil filter area.. So I dowsed the entire area with break cleaner, and it was ok for a day, now the leak (a small drip) is back..

Is there any common areas these trucks like to leak oil from? (162k miles on the clock btw) I tightened the filter a little more, that wasn't the issue.. I don't think it's the pan gasket either, so could it be the oil filter neck where it attaches to the block?? I need it fixed before it starts snowing because my other car doesn't get driven in the snow.

is it possible that they messed up the oil filter gasget when they put it on? like didnt oil it or damaged it?

just my thoughts...

If that's it I would be ecstatic.. I wont be able to check it out again until friday, so maybe I'll change the filter out and see what that does.

Another question, would my oil pressure drop if it was leaking from the filter?

depends. if its just leaking enough to make a wet spot on the filter, then i wouldnt think so. but if its blowing a little stream out while running, then id say that the pressure prob is dropping some. not that you would see it on your stock gage as they are not an actual oil pressure gage

it has been known, that when removing an old filter the old gasket will stick to engine block, how many people look to see? maybe the gaskets are doubled up or they didnt lube the new gasket during installation and pinched it?
