Default Squeaking belt

The alternator went out on me last Saturday, costing a little under $150 to replace. Now, since it was replaced, the temps have dropped way down... and I've got a very noticeable squeak from the belt. It does it at idle and goes all the way thru the RPM range getting louder and increasing in speed.

Last night I climbed under it to hit the back of the tensioner pulley with lubricant to see if it would nuetralize it. No luck. Then, I hit the idler pulley on top... bam... it stopped... temporarily. I went ahead and replaced the idler with another. Cheap enough. When the squeak was still there, I just hit the back side of the belt with a quick shot, and again, it stopped... temporarily. That makes it sound like a belt issue. Right? It looks like the original Motorcraft belt too... unless the previous owner replaced the original with another Motorcraft @ 60k or something. It is nice and shiny, which isn't necessarily a good thing for a belt.

Ok.... I've read about the gatorbacks being the way to go on these 4.0L engines. That's probably what I'll be trying if I don't get any other recommendations.

Everything sound good?

Just replace the belt. I had the same squeak you describe and replaced the belt last night and it's gone.
Dealer I bought it from soaked it with belt dressing or something to make the squeak go away but it was back later the same day I bought it.

yeah belt for sure. gatorback is a belt brand, if you like your truck dont go cheap on it, gator back might cost a bit more, but its the right thing to do for a truck you love.
