Default oil change, did they do it right? and other question

wen i bought my truck a few months ago it started pretty good and more recently (1st month was good then the next 2 were ehh) it wasnt starting to well... they said they changed the oil, which they did, but i dont think they changed the filter... im going to cut the old filter apart and check it to see if it might not of been replaced. it also looks pretty worn which every filter i have changed comes off a little dirty but not worn.

anyways

you think it wasnt changed? ill hopefully find out

my other ?
for oil filters. i think im gonna use purolator pureOne filters (filters to 20 microns and has a solid construction) or should i go with only motorcrafts or any other brand?

Any oil filter that is changed at a practical maintenance interval is a good oil filter. Look for anything with an anti-drainback valve. Most have them. It keeps oil in the filter so it doesn't delay oil circulation to the engine because it has to refill at start up. Purolator is a fine choice but remember the more practical criteria first.

did you really ask us if we think your oil filter has been changed?

yea the purolator pureone has a silicone anti-drainback... im jus not gonna use ones like stp or any with plastic support, rubber anti drainback (or one with none at all).

The top and bottom caps are made of cardboard. Other top end filters have a metal seal.

see, the carboard over time will decay, loosing filtration and letting small chunks of cardboard into the engine.

That video is with the regular Fram filter. What about the Tough Guard, are those still cardboard?

----------

Just looked up a video and they are cardboard too... Looks like i need to start buying a new filter.
