Default 99 4.0 Check engine light

Light had been on a while took to have checked and the lean codes came up checked for vacuum leaks and etc.Couldn't find any problems on a scan.So my mechanic suggests new plugs and wires.OK.Now it seems after the engine warms up it idles a little rough accelerates good on the road but noticing a little sputter when decelerating also and seems like I'm not getting the mileage as I was before with the new plugs and wires.OEM platinum plugs

lean codes normally indicate a vacuum leak. a broken vacuum line, PCV line or intake gasket leak can cause a vacuum leak. what exactly were the codes? PO171 or PO174 or both?

OK,Got the CEL taken care of new intake gaskets but it still seems to be a little miss notice it at idle in gear. ie stop light,parking but when I but in park seems to idle fine also tranny seems to shift back and forth in low gears at slow speeds when cold.Is this some sort of vacuum leak at tranny?

Get your codes checked immediately and write them down, all of them. Having a CEL on for one reason, will not let you know you have another problem. I just had my transmission worked on and my CEL has been on for 8 years. But, with it on, I never got the new transmission related codes.

As for idling rough, the Idle Air Controller is a simple, $35 part at Advance Auto Parts and changes with 2 botls and a quick connect electrical plug. In looking for vac leaks, I had my upper intake smoke tested and no kidding smoke from the IAC, so I obviously changed it.

Still no joy on the CEL though. Same codes P0171 & P0174.
