Tuners and vehicle monitors
I'm just curious as what the best tuner may be and what type of monitors you guys have (bullydog etc..)? I'm looking into getting one or both. Post if you have one and what type you have.

Re: Tuners and vehicle monitors
I switch between 3 ECU's on my car (Factory Mitsu, Motec and AEM) but I can use the AEM software to log on any vehicle w/ OBD and my tactrix cable.

Re: Tuners and vehicle monitors
also, if anyone has price ranges that would also help. I'm trying to fit one into my budget.

Re: Tuners and vehicle monitors
if you want a 2 in one (tuner and moniter) get an SCT livewire like STL said or you could do something like an SCT X-Cal (tuner) and moniter everything with a scangauge II or something simular to that. stick with SCT for the tuner though, they are the best for the rangers IMO

You can log your live data on a Ranger with AEM, I've done it many times. Also can use a Motec or AEM Ecu on a ranger as well.

WTF^ is the point of all that
As far as monitors go the only ones I have knowledge of are the Scanguage and Ultraguage I like both but the Ultraguage is cheaper so it wins IMO cuz they basically do the same thing. I actually like the screen on the Ultraguage more.

I forget most of you aren't comfortable doing your own tuning, or don't know how.
You need to log data if your going to make decisions on what is safe to adjust on a case by case basis.

i think it might have more to do with the fact that the tuning software you are referring to retails for anywhere from $1100 to $2200. i can data log through my X-CalII tuner on my laptop and record the parameters end email them to the guy that does my tuning (fred @ rogue performance) and have new tune files written for a small fee and then down load it on to my tuner and save myself over $1800 instead of buying the entire tuning software for it. does it make sense to you now as to why i said youre suggestion doesnt apply to 99.999% of the people here that just want a simple tuner or scanguage?

Re: Tuners and vehicle monitors
I wish I had the money to get that right now. I'm just curious, but what all exactly can you do with that? I'm new to all this. I would read through it but at work so not much time lol. I appreciate all the help and thanks for the link STL.

Hi
Can you give some examples of what adjustments you do make on the vehicle ? i.e ignition timing , air/fuel ratio adjust richer or leaner ?
What gains have you accomplished yourself as opposed to the factory standard tune ?
Who sells SCT livewire & SCT X-Cal apart from some listings in this thread and are these programs VIN locked ?
cheers
