so i guess the 3.0 isn't such a bad motor now is it hahahaha!! jkjk just had my tensioner replaced at the time it had 105k miles. Didn't need a new chain but i got a new tensioner with the new water pump new hose' ex.. sorry 4.0 guy about pulling the motor out to replace them. but i wouldn't worry about it. i have never seen a thread about one breaking or stretching to a point where it slaps.

yeah you wont have to worry about your timing chain breaking because your cam synchro will go out and seize your motor up before that can happen. Ill keep my 4.0 lol

i was afraid some one was going to bring that up hahahaha!!! ass!! hahaha!! if that happens then i would not even worry about rebuilding it. I would drop a 4.0 in it.

That's a good idea anyway, but you'll have to find another excuse. 4.0's are noninterference.

i honestly have no clue what i'd do if my motor went.

I could do a V8 swap because my county is one of the few in PA that still doesnt have emission testing

the shop is probably more or less scared to perform the task. because you essentially do need to remove the engine to do the rear chains.

the only shops around here that will touch mine are ford dealerships, and they want bukoo $ to do so. in which case, i'll let the bastard blow and drop either a built/blown 4.0 in it or a 302.

all OHC chains have guides n tensioners and all belts have tesioners, chains by far out last belts, I wldnt worry about it at that mileage.. and if there is slop in the chain u will def' hear it.

dont quote me on this but im pretty sure that the ranger engines were designed to have clearance between the valves and pistons so that it wont blow up if the timing goes out.

had a 95 escort that the belt went out and the engine was fine. just put a new belt and a water pump on and ran like a champ

IDK bout the V6's but the 4 clangers (2.3/2.5) are non-clearance engines, nothing will collide if the belt breaks
