Would this fan fit on the SOHC engines? I assume it would, but i'd rather have my research in order.

Yeah it should. The fan is universal. Its the adapter that is key. Im sure the water pump is the same thread as the OHV.

I'm curious, why did you not just use the tool to remove the nut between the WP and the fan? You can borrow that tool for free at O'Reilly just by leaving a deposit on your credit card or buy one for about $20. The other thing is, and maybe it varies by years, but I know for a fact on the SOHC engines that you do not have to remove the radiator. You remove the shroud and the fan up and out at the same time, leave the radiator alone. Nice time saver!

The Flex a Lite adapter #851 is for REVERSE ROTATION, however the fan you used is STANDARD ROTATION, should you not have used a fan that was REVERSE ROTATION
