I just changed my oil yesterday using motorcraft 5w-30 and a motorcraft filter. I agree with most of the people in here. If it was made with the truck, don't switch to something else. Really great stuff on here though, people can learn a lot from the conversations.

ive used it since 2006 with 40,000miles in it. and really drive it like its stolen everyday. Never had a problem with the truck. Well maybe i replaced a halfshaft once. but that was at 70,000 miles and still under warranty, and now has going on 190,000 miles. hope to hit 200,000 before newyear.

definately cant go wrong with the motcraft but i like synthetics. i believe they coat the internals a little better and put less stress and friction on them any good name brand valvoline, castrol, mobil 1 are good and as far as oil filters go with motocraft but if its to much hassle i like purolator and mobil 1

I use the K&N oil filter now and then just because its a good filter I run the full 5000 on it and its super easy to get on and off with that nut thing on the top.

This might sound stupid but I was wondering if the oil readings on the dip stick will be different when the truck was been leveled? since the oil drains further back into the oil pan.

I just changed my oil yesterday and used Mobil-1 5w-30 synthetic "truck & suv" oil with a Mobil-1 filter. I intend to change over the entire drivetrain to synthetics as well.

what good is that going to do you, might as well not change your oil, get a good quality oil. It cost 3.27 a quart for Motorcraft 5W-30 oil at Walmart, get that and you wont regret it. The money you save on the longevity of your truck will be greater then the money you save my buying cheap ass oil

This is good advice for spark plugs. But for oil, forget that noise...Mobil 1 is better than Motorcraft conventional. For belts....I'd rather run a Gatorback. And then for some other items it really doesn't matter, Im running Purolator IAC and PCV valves and fuel filter

i run the motorcraft 5-30 synthetic blend, its only like 2.99 right now, i got a few gallons of it. and i use the motorcraft filter. as for the tranny, transfer case and dif's im swapping out to synthetics for better lubing properties since they dont get changed nearly as often.
