Question Whole truck Vibrations, what could it be ?

Hey,

For the past few months I have been experiencing a very low but high frequency vibration when I drive 65mph-75mph. The vibration only exists at those speeds but is very pronounced and visibly shakes mirrors etc. Any ideas what this could be ? I have had the dealership replace a UV joint they said could be causing the problem, but this did not remedy the situation. More info: happens in 2wd and 4wd although seems worse in 2wd. I know this is bad but it also happens regardless of gearing 4th or 5th. Any help is apperciated, Thanks!

Could be something as simple as tire balancing. Same happened to me and it was a rear tire that lost the weight. Check it out, it could be an easy/cheap fix.

Yeah that was my first idea, but it has persisted and remained the same thru multiple tire balances and even tire changes. So I am suspecting another culprit any ideas ?

I think you have a super cab so that would mean you have the slip yoke. have you greased the slip yoke with the special grease?..did you check mounts?

By looking at your signature I can tell you have more knowledge than I will ever have, I do have a super cab. My only follow up question is by mounts do you mean body mounts to the frame ? and by special grease do you mean particular to ford rangers or just to slip yokes ? Thanks you for the help this has been bothering me for awhile.

I was thinking engine and tranny mounts. Have you cleaned and greased the slip yoke. They make a rrcomended grease

if the slip yoke is sloppy enough to the point that it vibrates at speed than greasing it will not fix it, i doubt that is it anyways but it wouldnt hurt to check it out. does the vibration change frequency with engine speed or wheel speed?

This is the thing it only happens at 65-75mph regardless of engine speed, the vibration is very consistent when present. The vibration is like a low hum but can be felt throughout the truck.

did the dealership also check the front drive shaft for a bad ujoint? what you describe sounds exactly like the bad u-joints ive had experience with.
