Google is your friend and I recommend swapping the cam and getting some ohv heads if you have the sohc or just dumping the ohv if you have the ohv suping it up is a waste of money imo

a super charger is easier to mount. basically bolt it on the intake and get a longer belt. a turbo requires a lot of plumbing and messing around with pressures and boost (maybe i just dont understand them as well).

but either way both are hardly effective at all if your gonna run the stock cam and stock valve springs. plus if the engine has more than about 70k miles then your not gonna get much more life out of it unless you do a complete rebuild before adding all that stuff.

if you want more power, then i suggest a 302 (5.0 v8). they run really good and there is a lot of parts out there for them.
1998 ranger extended cab, 2wd, 4.0 ohv, 5 speed, sony xploid 52 4 way watt radio, 2 pair of pioneer 240 watt speakers, Cobra 29 LX LCD CB radio pushing 100 watts, k&n air filter, 15 inch exploder wheels, dual exhaust with 4 inch stainless tips, 2 12 inch subs with a 1000 watt amp just for the hell of it!

new project: dirt track modified racing at the local saturday night track.

You can run a stock cam and see 70 HP gains, that is pretty significant. But really to get your monies worth out of it, pony up and do the newer heads or spend money on the older ones to get them out fitted the right way. Pay good money for good products, don't cheap when you are doing this, or one of us will be picking you up on the side of the road.
