Default Please help!!!!95 block with 97 parts

I have a 1997 ford ranger 4.0 v6. I just recently bought a new long block and just got done building it. Little did i no it is the wrong block it is a 1995 ford ranger 4.0 v6 block and when i went to put the syncronizer in it will not fit. Can some please Help help!!!! The 1997 is 3 wire and the 1995 is a 2 wire, when i bought the motor the guy swears its the same and said i didnt no what i was doing.

the blocks are the same and you should be able to make it work, you may need to swap your old one in? not really sure
