| | Problem When Shifting
Not too long ago I noticed between shifts my truck doesn't want to idle back down. If I shift at 2500 or 2800 for example it pretty much stays there and if it moves it generally doesn't go less than 2200 or so. I thought it was the cracked vacuum hose that I replaced. Guess that wasn't it, anybody have any ideas?
Thanks

Oh yea forgot to mention that it doesn't do it all the time, that's what's gettin me. I thought it might be another vacuum leak, until I noticed it doesn't do it all the time.

Thats clutch slippage. Usually from worn clutch plate or pressure plate. Or maybe it's not seated properly. Time to check.

| | Re: Problem When Shifting IAC is idle air control. i dont know if that will fix your problem but its just a thought. there is a "how to" thread somewhere on this site that tells you how to clean it.
im not trying to say that your wrong, mickblock, but i dont see how a worn clutch could cause this problem. i believe that the problem is that when he shoves the clutch in and lets off the gas to shift, the engine doesnt slow down it stays up where he last left it.

Yea...thats pretty much what it's doing. When I push the clutch in it doesn't want to idle down. But the thing that I really didn't understand was that it doesn't do it all the time. It does it more often that not, just not all the time.
Thanks.

if its an auto try putting some trany fix or some sea foam and drive it for an half hour that should help it. you can find it in any auto store and wal mart has it youll know it when youll see it. mine did the same thing the valves in the trany may be sticking a little between shifts
