Default Need Help! No brake Lights!

I have a 98, 4.0l 4x4 that does not get any brake lights. The parking lights and turn signals all work. I have changed out the brake light switch, and the fuses. I have even tried to use a paper clip to complete the circuit but that just popped the fuse. I need to figure this out so I can drive safely. I have also noticed since this happened that my fog lights do not work anymore. I dont know if they are connected somehow, but any help would be great. I also have checked all connections and they seem to be working. Thanks

I have had the same exact problem. I was installing LED tail lights and I short circuit the wires and everything popped. The fog lights did not come on and the interior gauges lights did not come on. It is a simply fuse change. Get a fuse checker and check all of your fuses. I believe more than one runs that circuit for the brakes and fogs so check first than buy the right fuses and replace. What I would do is make sure no wires from the brakes or fogs or whatever is touching any metal. Good luck

Hello. I had the same problem with my old 98 ranger splash. It was actually a loose connection on the limit switch that attaches above the break pedal that activates the brake light. I ended up tying it up with a couple of tie wraps and it fixed the problem. Hope this helps..

2 Options:

Brake pedal position sensor

Multi Function switch in the steering column

This problem happened to my truck twice, first time it was the BPPS and the 2nd time it was a loose connection in the multi-function switch
