Just gotta say thanks to OP for this tip. I've been struggling with this for a while. Only problem is, I wish I would have fixed this for $1.50 before replacing all three O2 sensors for $150!

omg, you have to be shittng me. just typed out a long reply and lost it when it hit post because it told me i had to check an "old thread" box. come on, its a sticky for christs sake!!!!!

shortened question, will this show up as a vac leak??? i tested my truck with a vac gauge and there is no sign of a leak on the gauge, and the lines hold vacuum for a long tie after the engine is shut off. with that in mind, could my problem possibly still be this elbow?

I have a 2000 Mazda B4000 with the same codes. I took the pics from the first post to my mechanic and he said my truck didn't have this elbow. Is this true? My mechanic has replaced the following: MAS, Intake gaskets, Computer, Plugs, Rocker cover gaskets, CAT, O2 censors. Its been smoked tested with acetylene, visually inspected for hours. Latest thing was the wiring harness, the dealer says because it is a wreckers harness they feel it is the problem. (can't verify if it is good) Then they back out of the job saying it will cost to much to continue! Like it is not cost me more then the truck is worth already! My question is could it be a wire tripping these codes and do I have this elbow? It goes to a new mechanic on Tuesday.

You do not have the elbow because yours is an OHV motor. That elbow is only on SOHC motors. Was mass air flow sensor replaced with a Motorcraft? You can PM me because this thread is for '01+ SOHC motors

sounds like you have a horrible, horrible mechanic. no mechanic should make YOU throw down thousands of dollars for THEIR ineptitude in locating a problem. if i were you id find a new one immediately.

Well they said they simply couldn't find the problem? I find out tomorrow what they are actually charging me for. I'm sure it will be in the $600 - $1000 range. What recourse do I have but to pay it and move on to another mechanic? Seems silly to pay anything as I am no further ahead then when I took it in 8 weeks ago? Cost me $400.00 for insurance too.

I tested my MAS sensor then cleaned the crap out of it with the store brand spray cleaner. I then had the codes cleared and it's been great since.

If you need to replace the whole PCV Hose just look on e-bay and look for part number KCV-190. I paid $30 for a Genuine Ford Motorcraft Part with Tags on it and Warranty on it from Ford if anything happens to it, Ford will replace it.

1998 4.0!
I've replaced my upper and lower intake gaskets, etc. Runs great when warm.

I don't have that longer vacuum line w/ the 90 degree bend, rather many very small diameter vacuum lines.

But at start she runs rough for a few minutes til she warms up. Where would that vacuum leak be?
