Sup fellas, just straight to the point lol.. Will a engine from a 2002 explorer with my 1999 ranger?? Is it direct swap or need modifications?? They are both 4.0L..

oh an the ranger is 4x4 automatic

yours is an OHV 4.0 and the explorer is a SOHC 4.0. Yeah it will work, I'm pretty sure it will bolt up to the transmission but not positive. You will also need the engine bay wiring harness and the engine computer/pcm....not positive on all of that except the wiring harness and computer.

i have everything, my only concern is if the original trans of the ranger will work with the sohc? since its 4x4 and the expo isnt.. thanx btw

I think I remember a guy possibly using the original trans....if you are a member on RF do a search for Alex98...He's done this swap on a 98 I believe
