Re: 3.0 to 4.0 swap...doable?
In that year I'd go straight for the 302. A lot more information out there describing the wiring differences etc. Plus the SOHC 4.0 from those years is pretty notorious for timing issues that require engine out service. They also don't make a ton more power than the 3.0 and get almost the same mpg as a 302. I feel like you'd do a lot of work and not gain very much. In fact in some cases you'd arguably loose.
