Can you please explain to us what the difference is between "fresh" air coming from the outside and "cold" air coming from the outside? Sucking it in from somewhere else outside the truck is not changing anything. The air temperature getting sucked into the pipe is the same. And this is proven by monitoring the intake air temperature sensor at the throttle body which shows the exact same temperature as the outside air temperature. No matter what you do, nothing will change or improve that.

A "cold air intake" kit for our trucks is a gimmick. It changes nothing. It adds nothing. You gain nothing.

I'm sorry you don't like this answer. You can go by some advertising BS and waste your money, or you can listen to us on here that have been doing this for 10-20 years and know every inch front to back. Your choice, but please pick one and stop trying to convince us we're all wrong.

for the most part if you want power you need money and supercharger if your not that crazy about it and just want a little more umph for the trail what you can do is A find a way to get colder air to your intake, for example i have a stock cold air ranger that pulls air from behind the headlight and i have manages to mod that area to let alot more cold air in. next get more of that air in the engine. i pulled the screen in front of the mass airflow sensor out and i even took a air grinder and smoothed out my entire air system taking burs off of everything and taking the texture off the MAS then drop a K&N in the box. don't forget all of this is for the most part useless unless you have a free flow exhaust. i have no cats, a cherry bomb extreme dual out and 2x glass packs as tips so my exhaust is very free flow. i did all of this to my ranger at the same time and i noticed decent improvements, better MPG, i can break the tires loose into 3rd gear and it gets up to speed alot faster. plus the exhaust sounds mean and looks cool so all around got more power a meaner look and sound and that was all for under 300 bucks and some man hours. to anyone about to tell me im wrong please know i drove my ranger before and after all the mods on the same day and took 3x 0-60 before and 3x after and all 3 after were faster than the before mods not by much but really i do more off road so if your not looking for a fast 1/4 mile and just want some more power for off road take it from me these mods will help if done correctly. also i agree with FireRanger alot of the rangers have cold air stock, however those K&N and other CAI kits are usually crap and wont actually pull cold air, usually they just look pretty and it sounds cool when you say you have one.

Doubtful. Air doesn't get colder than outside ambient air temperature and the intake is already sized to allow maximum air flow. Modifying it adds nothing.

Nitro, turbo or supercharger are the least expensive performance mods. Cold air intake is ineffective on anything that hasn't had some other modifications to make use of it. Cold air allows more of a "charge" of fuel to reach the combustion chamber.

RangerKid, no we don't think you're an *******. Believe me, we've been up and down this road 100 times so it just gets repetitive and annoying sometimes. As long as you've grasped it, everything is cool.

Sorry dude, that's out of my realm. I'm good with electrical, air flow, and cooling systems. Mechanics, valves, pistons, and all that jazz is for someone else.

I think you're talking about ignition coil packs (ie, the thing you have instead of a distributor cap) that all the spark plug wires hook up to.

Yes there are aftermarket "performance" coil packs. But this is very similar to air intakes. The stock engine can not make use of it. If you had hefty mechanical engine mods, you would need to draw more air, flow more fuel (bigger injectors), make more spark (coil packs), etc. But a stock engine will not benefit from a fancy coil pack alone.

Think of it like this. If you pour 2 extra gallon of poland spring bottled drinking water in your toilet bowl, does it flush your shit any better? No. It's still the same toilet and it just goes down the drain. If you got a high performance toilet, it might make use of it....

isnt a manual valve body just make it so you can shift your automatic like a manual? if so its not going to do anything except let you have fun because you still lose power through the torque converter which is where you get a loss of up to 15% of engine power and efficiency so you would be better off doing either a 5.0 explorer swap or a manual tranny for your 4.0
