Exclamation need help for my cold air intake

so my buddy gave me a k&n cold air intake that he didnt want for a 2004 ford ranger i put it on my 2003 ford ranger same engine size everything pretty much identical except for the mass airflow sensor. now its idle is at 1200 rpm and its acting real sluggish. there is very little acceleration and the check engine light is on is there any way to fix the mass air flow sensor or am i wasting my time?

Put your factory intake back on

CAI's are a joke on our motors, believe me, I know. I have one installed, an expensive whistle, maybe the only gain is a little better throttle response but thats it, no real mpg gain either

What is the air box mod? New to me and am interested. I am planning on the K&N filter, but haven't heard if there is an advantage or not. I am a driveline tech. My Ranger is a 2001 XLT extended cab, 3.0, 5R55E 2 wheel drive.

Check the how to section for the air box mod. Very simple.
