Have you checked the rear trans mount and or engine mounts to start?

Check plugs, wires, air filter, intake, IAC.

I found out timing chain tensioner that’s broke. Could be front one or back one. Need to pull motor to repair. 150K. Expensive. Timing chain kit is $500. The. Labor. Might just as well put in a refurbished
motor.

negative, that can be done in the truck. Whoever said that is lying to charge more. And a refurbished engine is gonna be more than 4 times that on average+ labor. so your talking a minimum of $1800 just for the engine, not even R&R it.

You may be able to do it yourself saving you labor but costing you time. and check https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...iming+set,5756 for your parts.

Plenty of guys on here can give you a better run down on the SOHC parts list you need for w/ balance shaft or w/o a Balance shaft.

Id suggest swapping out the water pump while you're in there and enjoy another 150K on an engine YOU KNOW the HISTORY of... but thats me

Dont know who told YOU that, but check Cloyes Youtube repair procedure. Engine MUST be pulled to repair rear engine bank of Chains. Minimum kit charge $250, Oriellys is $450 for kit. Labor intensive. I don’t have space or tool kit required for proper timeing procedure

This video?

They say "it is recommended to pull the engine because of limited room on the passenger side..." But several times in the first 4 minutes the tech clearly mentions different procedures for doing things while the engine is still in the vehicle which tells me its not only plausible but possible. Granted, someone with limited access to tools and left only to a Harbor Freight, WOULD prove to be difficult in abilities and lean heavily on extended time frames for completion.

Outside of that; your argument of space and time is at least halfway valid. But I am still looking for the "MUST" be pulled...
