Oil Leak on Top Driver Side of Engine

I just got this truck few weeks ago and was trying out the 4x4, put it in neutral switched it to 4hi then put it in drive. Felt the 4x4 since traction got heavier and also heard a screech. So i put it back into neutral, shifted it to 2hi and put it back into drive.

After driving a few hundred feet, felt the car have the same traction as the 4x4 and figured it got stuck, I also still heard some screeching but not as bad. Drove 3 miles before i pulled over because i smelt smoke, popped the hood and saw i leaked oil from something. Here are the pictures. (Also the white part with the black tube connected, to it looks like it melted. Its just to the left of the red part in the picture, could you please tell me what part that is)

Could it be driving in 4x4 made the parts down by the wheels smoke or get too hot that something up on the top of the engine blew and sprayed oil on the driver side? thanks for the help

Well... Expert details not withstanding, you blew up or severely overheated your power steering pump. The "white thing" is the reservoir for the power steering fluid. It either ruptured or boiled over.
