2004 4.0 V6 having multiple issues help
Hello
Been researching through here and just registered as I just purchased a 2004 ford ranger 4.0 v6 sohc auto 4x4
Truck has 177k miles on it
Bought with a misfire issue
Had scanned and has multiple things just need some help on a couple and suggestions
Code P0300 vacuum leak I think? Ideas what?
Told possibly intake manifold cracked
Multiple random misfires
IAT- intake air temp. So just need to replace?
Cylinder 1-3 random misfire
Was told essentially 1-3 are showing dead
Any thoughts on this?
----------
Also supposed to have newer plugs and wires motor craft brand
And also new egr valve
New ignition module as well
Any help is appreciated

I would start with the easy things. Do you have any kind of scan tool?

Does the engine run at all? If the engine does not run at all and or cranks over easily you should check for a timing chain issue?
The ignition control module is part of the ECU? Was the ECU swapped out?
I think the IAT is in the middle of the air intake, check that's it sitting properly and no cracks?
It's definitely a 4.0? Right?

Re: 2004 4.0 V6 having multiple issues help
A couple more quick checks:
a. Sometimes a head gasket issue will manifest by air pressure build up in the coolant system so take the radiator cap off and feel for air pressure. If there is a consistent air pressure coming out you may have a blown head gasket.
b. Check the oil on the dipstick and see if it looks milky or a light color of brown. If so same thing as above, a cylinder/ head issue may be allowing coolant into the oil system.

Ok
1)Get a scanner and re-scan it
2)post ALL of the actual codes here. We don't want "it misfires or it's the o2" we want the actual codes i.e. p0301, etc.
3)I know they said plugs and wires new but you need to inspect them. Pull a spark plug or 2 and post a picture of it. So just to be clear so you know that if they replaced the ignition module they actually replaced the ECU. The ignition module is a part of the ECU.

Re: 2004 4.0 V6 having multiple issues help
Will give it another try
We sprayed around the manifold once with no throttle increase from the cleaner.
Been told could be the intake manifold is cracked on upper or lower?

Re: 2004 4.0 V6 having multiple issues help
Sprayed carb cleaner while idling again but no changes in rpm at all
Thoughts? Checked the one rubber elbow and it appears solid no gashes or leak
