The heater core doesn't defog windows. The evaporator from the AC does. Even in the dead of winter the AC is still what defogs windows.

Yea thats heater core farts... When you do replace it you're going to want to flush and clean the entire cooling system very thoroughly. Get lots of jugs of distilled water and a bottle of zerex coolant flush.

Damn:/ and just to make sure, is this what I’m replacing? Why is the hose from the firewall leaking a ton of water?

Because your water pump is pumping all the engine coolant through that heater core. If you're not careful you will lose all of the coolant and then real problems happen. Either replace the core now or loop it off before you pump all the coolant out and you overheat the engine

Damn, okay. Yeah it takes a good day to drain half way. I watched a couple videos on how to replace the heater core. Question is, do I have to drain the coolant before doing so?

Not as easy as it looked on the youtube videos lol. Im not sure if you can see from the picture but about an inche of the heater core isnt letting the heater core come out. All i need is an inch. Im slowly taking more things that are in the way off but it looks like if I’m able to disconnect the steering, it would be a lot easier. I’m RIGHT there yet not. Any tips?

Got it done! Ended up unbolting the steering at the joint, a son of a gun to put back together by myself but managed to get the job done. Thanks for the help everyone
