Default Speed tops out at 90 miles per hour

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 4 x 4, 4 L, 6 cylinder. I cannot go faster than 90 miles per hour. Anybody know why? I need this thing to go faster than 90 so if anybody knows why and if there's a fix please inform me.

Does the throttle cable have slack in it? When you press down on the gas pedal does it immediately accelerate?

The truck is governed at a specific speed. How thats done can be done with cutting fuel, ignition timing, or other methods programmed into the ECU/PGM what have you.

Its begging me to ask.. WHY do you "need this truck to do over 90" ? Its a truck, granted in a straight line you can make a truck fast. With some modifications and some suspension tuning right tires, you can even make a truck fast in some corners or drift.

But i think you'll find few people wanting to accept liability should you cause harm to yourself or someone else while you opt to have a "testicular moment"... Even an ambulance is regulated to no more than 15mph over the speed limit in most States - even during life or death instances..

** And yes, that even means if your significant other is about to make a mess on your floorboard and drop a kid.. It is unlawful to speed or blow red lights for that hospital run. ITS seldom or rare for it to be life or death situation and even then..

If you are trying to outrun the cops, you'll need to go way faster than 120 mph.

Finally I get a serious answer.

Thank you.

The reason I would need to go faster than 90 is simple.

If I ever need to.

This Thread can be closed or deleted now.

Thanks to the one person that gave me a serious answer.

but logic tells us you still can't outrun Motorola and when you do run.. you get dead or in more trouble than what its worth.

Best to pull over and actually play/interact with policy enforcement..

Vehicles are speed limited a couple miles slower than what the speed rating is on the original tires. Now think of those discount tires you bought awhile back. They probably have a low speed rating. Please, you do not need to go 90 or more.
