I've been trying to research as much as possible and i've gotten this far...

2005 ranger xlt 6cyl 4.0 4wd

coolant leaking... yes
radiator pressure test.... yes
water pump leaking....yes

question? under water pump and to the left looks like a pan with gasket that could be leaking too. its hard to tell if its just run off or coming out of there too. what is this part? should antifreeze even be coming out of there? i will try to get a picture tomorrow.

also Are there any diagrams out there showing the underside of the engine?

If you ever had the Alt. a Nator bracket off
you need to goop those 2 long bolts up "Really
Good" with thread sealant. Same issue drove me
nuts for a few years.

Well, I was pretty crazy anyway, OK.

never had alt off. the area below it to the left of water pump and lower. not sure what it is. i dont think its the oil pan transfer case? maybe?

Another thing to check is the thermostat housing. On the 4.0 SOHC they tend to get hairline cracks and start leaking. The first time I changed one I actually thought it was the water pump. Come to find out the thermostat housing was leaking down the front of the motor and on the water pump.

ok well i did take the thermo housing out. after another pressure test i could hear air coming out of it. once removed ( what a pain, not as easy as the old '97 ranger) i found puddles of antifreeze sitting on top of the engine so i imagine what i saw dripping from the bottom was run off from the top. i hope!

So where would you guys recommend getting a new housing unit, online or store, for the best price?
Should i get a new thermostat and sensors as well?
Is there some place that sells everything as a kit or will need to buy everything individually?

oh one more thing. My housing has two sensors. i did find one on partsgeek that i think will work but it only comes with one sensor.
