So I have to swap injectors correct? Like I said, I’m using the 1993 block and heads with 1996 electrical components to eliminate changing wiring harness. Are the injectors in the 93 motor different/have a different connector than the 96 motor ones?

What could be different is whether they altered because of OBD II (a) to OBD II (b) engine management could have changed out from Peak & Hold to saturated Injectors or vice versa or maybe a slightly different sized Lb injector?

It would be easier to just pull the injectors that your harness supports as known to the system, and slip them into the intake plenum.

The heads and block idealy should be all the same, valve train ect.. there "could" be a slight difference in cam profiles but I doubt it.

And although I could post pics of 93 injectors, I do not have a 96 to compare with but you do. I'll try and see if I can get a pic or two Monday when weather clears up here. or maybe I may have some from when I did the lower intake plenum gasket last year (?). I'll check either or..

Here’s some progress, got 1993 4.0 engine on the stand.

While removing the heads and intakes and all the other goodies on the bad motor in the truck, here’s what I came across and what happened to the engine haha

With the engine being locked up because of the broken connecting rod, made it very hard to turn the engine over because the crank would get hung up on the wrist pin and couldn’t get it to wiggle out of there. So therefor there was no way to get access to all the torque converter nuts.

I had to remove fan and everything in the front to give my self enough clearance for pulling the motor with the torque converter attached, I highly wouldn’t recommend doing it like this, but sometimes you have to.

Look on the heads, should be a casting number near the exhaust ports and spark plugs

I found it the code is 13E94 so may 13,1994 but bought the motor as a 96 obd2 soooooooo I thought about swapping out all the internals and heads n intake to a 96 to have the better pistons and the heart shaped flow heads stop looking up if that will interchange though. Trans I got is a 96 though so that's GD.

Okay, well I’ve never heard of that casting number, 1990-1994 head casting numbers should be 90TM Heads or something similar, for more info on what internals can be swapped and what can’t be swapped and for more info on the casting numbers, this page will help
