Default Misfire, and lean bank 1&2 when cold.

I’ve got a problem I can’t find the answer to!

Info:
2000 Ranger XLT 4.0L OHV, at 104k milage.

Problem(s):
Misfire codes on 4&6, oil found on plugs (possibly from seam above 456 plug wells) and non fouler helped. Exhaust is normal. Muffled backfire/miss/rough idle at cold start. I’ve replaced spark plugs, tested wires, coil pack, IAC, cleaned MAF, and as mentioned before installed a nonfouler on plug 4.

Lean bank 1&2 only happens when weather cools off (Texas so it just dropped from 90 to 60)

At this point I’m just throwing parts at the problem and need help. Anyone got some wisdom they could share?

Greatly appreciated,

Kyle.

Don't these engines have faulty intake manifold gaskets?

Replace your lower intake gaskets

HoJo, I haven’t thought to look at the coolant temp sensor, it seems to warm up just fine but I’ll look into it!

Modelageek, I’ve heard, and been told replacing gaskets may fix that. One major concern is the misfire, how do I zero in on what may be causing it? As replacing gaskets without finding the misfire source may result in taking down the engine again.

Jswifto, do you have any tutorials or exploded views I could use for references? IDE like to do it myself, and pictures/videos have been a huge help.
Any thoughts on the misfire?
