New to forum what type of synthetic oil?

New to forum but not rangers, my 3rd one. I love em, they just run and run.

My question is I just bought my newest ranger (in my signature) and I want to switch to a synthetic oil. I have always used Pennzoil convetional without any problems 198,000 miles on my last truck and run like a top , but I just like the idea of going longer on oil changes, lets say 5,000 instead of 3,000

I change mine myself and don't have a garage so trying to avoid a few of those cold winter changes.

Just wondering what brand oil some of you use and oil filter as well and what luck you have with it. Also many of the synthetics claim to slightly increase gas mileage as well, is it true?

All of my rangers so far seem to like 5w30 royal purple and a royal purple oil filter very smooth and oil is clean all the way up to 10k when I can't afford royal purple I get mobile one synthetic 5-30 and a k and n filter none wrench on it is 10 cheeper then wrench on kind but same filter my trucks seem to like it a lot less tho

Welcome Douglas, Glad you found us. Have fun and enjoy FRF.. I am a strong believer in the 3000 mile change. I am old school. I to used penzoil in my Accord & Civic useing Honda filters or Puralator. Accord has over 600,000 miles & Civic has close to 400,000 miles, neither motor or tranny has been down. That being said I use nothing else but Motorcraft oil & filter in my Mustang & use to in my Ranger. X2 Wally World has the best prices. Hondas come from factory with Mobil 1.
