Default Motor swap from a explorer

Will a 2006 explorer 4.0/trans fit in my 2002 ranger. I have a 4.0 already (timing chain rattle) found a expo in my area with under 100k on it. I want to jump on it quick, long as it's parts will fit my truck

The 4.0 in the '96 Explorer will be the 160hp OHV engine, not what you need.

Sorry, not sure where/how I read 1996 in the post. As far as I know everything would work on the long block, but you may have to swap components from your '02 onto it to handle any differences.

I apologize, no idea what internal differences there may be between the two 5R55E's. A search may turn up some results on whether your computer will have any issues controlling the later one.

Trans is different, but long block should be the same.

Shouldn't be a problem I did the same thing 9 months ago an 04 Explorer to an 03 Ranger as long as you keep all the accessories from your truck take off whatever isn't the same off the Explorer you're going to love it bro I'm loving it no more chain rattle and I use Rotella oil and that shit lubricates the hell out of those timing chains 10-30 cuz it's California
