New guy here, sorry if I missed a thread with this topic already. I did do several searches but didn't find the problem I'm having.
My issue is an oil leak on the passenger side back toward the firewall. I thought it was coming from the oil filter adapter. Bought a new o ring and went out today to repair it but with a closer look I found that the leak is actually above the oil filter. I seen oil dripping from a bolt head near the spark plug closest to the firewall. The bolt is in line with all three spark plugs on that side of the motor and it is between the last spark plug and firewall near that corner of the motor. It drips every 15-20 seconds straight down onto the exhaust manifold then burns off and, naturally, creates a good little amount of smoke. Not blown head gasket amount of smoke but definitely noticeable. It doesn't look like its coming from above the bolt head in question. I have attached a couple of pictures of the bolt head and I will try to post better ones if I can get them.
I wish I knew more so I could give more details, but that is all I know right now. Any idea what that bolt is? A plug of some sort? Or a mounting bolt? And why would oil be coming from around it? What would be the proper way to fix it? BTW, 230k miles. Maybe this is something that commonly happens when a 4.0 gets this many miles? Thanks for any help!
