Question 04 Edge upgrade

Ok so i have a 04 Edge w the 4.0L engine. I have noticed that my engine is not producing like it should and stops accelerating at 92 mph. Has anyone else tried to fix this problem? is this fixable? is it a speed governer (heard thru grapevines)?????

Yes speed limiter

only way to remove it is with a tuner

When was the last time the plugs and wires were changed?

Absolutely no clue. Bought it used in october '09. To be technical, my parents bought it for me as a present while i was away at college. I dont think the plugs have been changed. It currently has 90k on it

Routine maint. is a must on that 4.0.
If I were you, before I started spending money on mods I'd start with a Seafoaming, all new plugs, wires, oil, tranny service, gear dope, clean maf, tb, iac. That way you know what you've got. Prevent the preventable.

Gear dope, LOL!

I agree with STL and joldtown, especially if you don't have the service records from the previous owner.

Ya if you do the seafoam you need to change plugs/oil anyways so knock them all out at once.

Anti-seize the plugs too!
You'll thank yourself the next time you change the plugs. Especially on those two that like to play hide and seek.

hahaaa....thats a good one. I did the plugs, oil and pcv valve this weekend in my 01 Edge 4x4 and that was the hardest plug change of any vehicle I have ever attempted.

don't mean to sidetrack the thread but...what is "maf,tb, and iac"?

If you move your mouse curser over the word it will pop up with the meaning.

MAF = Mass Air Flow
TB = Throttle Body
IAC = Idle Air Control (valve)
