Default Coolant flush

So I want to start doing some of my trucks routine maintenance on my own and I figured I start with flushing my coolant but I just have a few questions....
Also the vehicle is a ford ranger v6 4.0 if that matters.
1) I know I have a radiator cap and an overflow reservoir for the coolant--do I put anything at all in the overflow reservoir or will everything go directly into the radiator cap?

2) I was told that after I drain the old coolant that my vehicle would hold about 13quarts so the mixture I should add is 1gallon of Concentrate coolant, 1gallon of distilled water, and 1 gallon of 50/50. Is that mixer correct or would anyone recommend another mixer?

3) not really a question but I'd really appreciate it if some you all also include info that I may not be aware of when it comes to this procedure. Ty.
