Default Bad Timing Chain Again??

Hello, I have a beautiful, white 2001 Ford Ranger XLT side step. I bought it at 125,000 miles from a used car salesmen. He sold it to us with a bad rear timing chain. He had the truck started when we got there so we couldn't here it as its only audible from a cold start or fast acceleration. After I realized it, I decided to get it fixed as I knew it wasn't going to be cheap and the truck was cut down to half its value otherwise. I paid $5000 for the engine to be taken out and replaced with a new one. It's cheaper to do a swap as it was only a couple hundred more for a new engine with far less miles. They put in an engine from a 2004 Ford Explorer that was in a salvage yard and it had only 49,000 miles on it. I had a year warranty with the new motor. It's since been over a year (warranty is up) and I believe I'm hearing the same sounds in the engine again. It's right around 2300-2500 RPMs when I hear what I think is the same noise. That was also the same RPM's that I heard the bad chain at before. I was wondering if I could get your guys' opinions on what it might be. Here's a video I took of the sound (insert link into browser) https://vid.me/gfzy Sorry for the excess noise as the cab in my truck is fairly loud. It's audible when I hit 2500 RPM's. I tried to hold it there to make the noise last as long as I could. Please let me know your thoughts on if it is a timing chain again or what else it might be. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

----------

It can be heard at about 3 seconds. Very slight but almost sounds like a slight grinding of metal sound.

First why didn't you at least put new guides in before you stuffed the newer motor? You also might want to change the tensioners first and see if that helps.

You paid $5k for a USED motor?

You realize you could have a BRAND NEW ONE put in for the same cost right?

X2. OP caught my attention (not in a good way) when he said he paid $5,000 for a new motor, but then it turns out that what he really got was a used motor. And despite the obscene overcharging, the installer just couldn't drop $160 in parts to replace the tensioners while he had that engine sitting on a silver platter in front of his face. For this, I think OP ought to see him again to help cure the current problems, you'll be in good hands.

$5000 includes the replacement/swap of motors, along with the cost of a replacement motor (36,000 miles on it when out in).

Junk yard engine had 49k when it was installed.

Op you got screwed at that price, the first I'd do is check the catalytic converter heat shields because if a wild breaks on one you get a similar rattle at that rpm.

I think you missed a post, nowwwwwwww the "new" JY engine is down to 36,000 miles, read up bout three posts, but it really doesn't matter. In light of thestory, starting at a used car lot with the effort to mask a problem (still, it's his fault, buyer beware and if you don't know how to shop for cars, bring help, pay for vehicle inspection at a facility of YOUR choice), his getting reamed on the cost of the "new" engine, I wouldn't believe a single word coming from the mouths of these people when it comes to how many miles were on it or what year vehicle it came out of or what it came out of.

*** Always remember, the most important organ on a salesmans body is his mouth.

That's odd for that low mileage of a 4.0 to start doing that, it makes me wonder if the previous owner neglected oil changes on that explorer. If so then it l can see how the guides have already possibly failed.
