Default Oil pump shaft to long when converting to Non OBD2 motor

I have a 98 Ranger that is OBD2 and I am putting in a motor from a 95 Explorer that is Non OBD2. We are trying to avoid replacing the oil pan and pump but the shaft for the cam sychronizer on the old motor is slighty longer and will not fit correctly. However this is the one we have to use due to the truck being OBD2. Anyone run into this and find a way around it that does not involve tearing apart the whole bottom of the engine?
