My ranger all of the sudden started shaking one day when I was pulled by out of my driveway. It was deff the engine shaking making the whole truck shake and it kinda felt like it was going to stall during the shaking. So I just replaced the Plug Control box, all the spark plugs, and the cords. Because it seemed like a misfiring cylinder but now when I start it up it still has the same shake and I'm starting to notice a knocking noise as well.. But no check engine light is coming on so its kinda frustrating. I also smell pure gas when it's on and shaking don't know if that helps. Any thoughts ?!! I'm lost!!

well first start with something you just messed with. make sure you received the right coil pack. now making sure you have the wires on the right plugs for the coil orientation. next the easiest pull that check engine light code and see what it is saying.


it can be anything from what i just listed to bad injector, injector seat, o2 sensors bad new coil list goes on

This may or may not help... but in addition to checking whatever you messed with, id also check your motor mounts if you went off roading recently or even hit a hard curb, you never really know. but since it was all of a sudden i doubt it would have anything to do with it.

make sure your plugs are in the correct order, you have the right pack, 02 sensors are good.. clear codes (if any).

if you smell fuel like that you should check for a leak somewhere. my old truck did that and it turned out the be the fuel regulator leaking

Id check the all fuel lines where they piece together there are rubber seals in there that can leak and cause a similar problem but im not sure about the knocking

check compression and check fuel rails for leaks shaking may have popped a valve u never know 4.0s are known for jumping timing guides and knocking.

Hi. when my car idling, the car vibrates a lot. The idle speed 760 1 / min. If i raise the speed, it stops in 1000 1 / min of shaking around. I switched the engine mount brackets and I saw that the gearbox mount bracket is fine, but the car is shaking ...
Maybe the new mounts very hard? did you meet such a thing?
