Location of reverse lamp switch
So on an old thread I started I asked why my reverse lights would not come on, even though they were in good condition,
All I got was it could be a reverse lamp switch.
If that's what you guys think it is, can anyone tell me where I can find it on a 2000 ford ranger XLT 4.0L V6 4x4 off-road, automatic.
If you think it's something else, don't hesitate to inform me!

Also did you try replacing the bulbs. Just because they look to be in good shape doesn't mean anything

Would those fuses be in the doorjam or under the hood?

Before you do anything get a muti meter and check to see if you have power at the socket with the transmission in reverse. It's possible you have a bad socket. Unplug the socket and see if you have power at the connector

Re: Location of reverse lamp switch
I already told you numerous times that you have to replace the reverse light switch. It's not easy to get to. It looks like this:

The cheapest thing to do first would be to check for power at the socket and check the fuses

Re: Location of reverse lamp switch
For an automatic transmission, the Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor is what sends a Back-Up signal to the PCM. Same as on my 1997. This is located on the lower LHS of the transmission. The Ford EVTM labels it as connector C1005, which has 12 pins, and the Backup Lamps Feed is pin 11 (color BK/PK).
That other reverse sensor switch with 2 pins (posted by Fordzilla80) is for a manual transmission, not an automatic.
This is the DTR on an automatic transmission:

I did those things, but I can always double check! Thank you.
----------
the circled thing, I don't have that on my automatic transmission
----------
Okay, thanks that was really helpful! So not I'll just double check the pins at the lights now
