97 ranger 4.0 diesel sounds at 1900-2000 rpms

Hi

I'm new to the ranger world. I bought a 97 ranger with 4.0l v6 with 240,000 or so on it with the 5 speed. I have done a few things as far as some sensor and plugs and wires and changed the lower intake gasket on it. I have been still having troubles with the p0171,p0174 codes. I have checked for vacuum leaks all over and cannot seem to get rid of them. When I start it up cold it will run smooth and no misses and after it warms up it will kinda "diesel" at 1900 to 2000 rpm as I shift through gears. It won't do it if I have my foot off the throttle or when I really get into the throttle but will do it if I'm holding at a steady speed.

Is it like a diesel rattle noise?
