Default timing chain guides broke...now what?

Okay so, started my truck up to go lunch, started rattling really bad and loud, timing isn't off and it ran fine (shut it down a few seconds after) kicked a code for a P0300 random cylinder misfire and the drivers side valve cover is cracked right in front where the cam gear/chain would be. Do I pull the timing cover off and replace the chain and the guides (tensioners were replaced a few months ago by the way) or throw a new/used motor in? Help!

Okay, "used" motor with 75,000 on it (and change the tensioners and the plugs before I put it in) new motor from Ford (gotta take a loan out first lol) or a jasper motor?

Looks like the route I'm going to go. Would you guys even chance it? I mean from what I've gathered its the front chain, front chain guide and a new drivers side valve cover.

The motor that was already in it was used?

You could try replacing the front chain and doing a compression test.

No the engine that is in it is the factory engine, there is a place where I could get a "low mileage" one for a few hundred bucks but that's quite a big risk there. Once I get I towed home and in the shop I'll start pulling crap apart and see what's going on but for now hopefully its just the guide, chain, and valve cover on the front. She still runs, just sounds like going over empty soda cans with a weed whacker haha.

No I was getting it on and off but I changed the tensioners a few months ago, both front and back spring tensioners

Hmm that's interesting. It might have been just enough to break the mounting points for the guide.
